One mechanism associated with hair thinning involves dihydrotestosterone (DHT). It is formed from testosterone by the enzyme 5α-reductase. In genetically sensitive follicles, DHT may contribute to gradual hair miniaturisation and a shorter active-growth phase.
The REDACTIV® formula contains plant-derived active ingredients that can act on this pathway.
EGCG (epigallocatechin gallate) is a green-tea polyphenol studied for its ability to inhibit 5α-reductase activity and reduce the negative effects of DHT on dermal papilla cells. EGCG also has antioxidant activity and supports the viability of cells involved in regulating hair growth.
Oleanolic acid has also been studied as a plant-derived 5α-reductase inhibitor. It is another component aimed at protecting the follicle from processes associated with androgen-related miniaturisation.
What is the advantage?
REDACTIV® is not built around a single “blocker.”
The formula addresses the DHT pathway while supporting follicle cells, providing antioxidant protection and helping maintain conditions for a normal hair-growth cycle.
Action on the androgen pathway is therefore one part of a multi-ingredient strategy, rather than the formula’s only mechanism.
